Customers Win With Collaboration Between Spirion Data Classification and McAfee Security Host DLP Solutions
October 16, 2017. CLEARWATER, FL—Spirion, the leading provider of sensitive data risk reduction solutions, announced it will be showcasing its collaboration with McAfee™/Intel® Security at the MPOWER Cybersecurity Summit, which takes place October 17-19, at the Aria Hotel in Las Vegas. Visit our booth at #SIA K to learn more about the collaboration and to see a demonstration of the integration.
The collaboration between Spirion’s Data Discovery with Automated Classification and McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention provides significant enhanced data leak risk reduction and data loss prevention capabilities. The integration allows organizations to classify all its sensitive data assets while simultaneously allowing it to leverage the Intel Security EPO™ McAfee endpoint technology for data security and policy enforcement.
“There was only one company that McAfee reached out to about integrating their solution for data discovery and classification,” Brent Gifford, chief information security officer of Patelco said. “If there was one company they were going to recommend; it was Spirion.” “Spirion is very robust,” said Brent. “It does a grand job presenting the discovery results across our entire network and cloud, so we can present comprehensive options. Spirion is efficient and effective, as a result, we’re able to run lean.”
With Spirion, organizations can accurately inventory and classify the entirety of the organization’s sensitive data assets quickly and easily; thereby, gaining full visibility and access to appropriate protections or actions in real time; while simultaneously leveraging Intel Security’s EPO endpoint technology for data security and policy enforcement.
- With Spirion, automate data discovery with unparalleled accuracy, and tag files with persistent data classifications.
- From within McAfee DLP Policy Manager, create and manage classification rules and GUIDs (global unique identifications) that are linked to Spirion’s classified data to block printing, block access, block cloud syncing, block emailing, monitor file access through shares, direct file and prevent movement through storage.
- When new files are created, copied, edited, detached from an email, extracted from an archive, retrieved from the cloud or enterprise storage, or otherwise modified, it is instantly scanned for sensitive data with Spirion’s Data Watcher®, then automatically classified, and recorded for monitoring in real time.
- Spirion’s dynamic classification helps users learn what is sensitive: customizable icons display as file overlays viewable in Windows Explorer to help users understand where sensitive data resides so that they can take proactive measures to protect that data. Spirion’s classification information is persistent and stays with files even when they are renamed or moved to a different location.
The integration leverages Spirion’s Representational State Transfer (REST) application program interface (API). The RESTful API enables customers’ sharing of Spirion’s sensitive data results with their existing enterprise information security systems, including: security information and event management (SIEM) systems, governance, risk and compliance (GRC) platforms, cloud access security brokers (CASBs) and user behavior analytics (UBA) platforms. Mobile, cloud and web applications are also supported by the API, increasing customer engagement through improved accessibility.
