Spirion Listed in Seven Gartner Hype Cycle Reports

Company's Data Protection Technology Tracked Across Two Different Technology Categories

ST. PETERSBURG, FL, August 31, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/Spirion, a pioneer in data protection and compliance, today announced its inclusion in seven 2021 Gartner® Hype Cycle™ reports. Gartner identified Spirion’s data protection capabilities across two different technology categories in this year’s Hype Cycle reports, including Data Classification and File Analysis.

Spirion was included as a Sample Vendor in the following 2021 Gartner Hype Cycle reports:

  • Hype Cycle for Privacy (data classification and file analysis)[1]
  • Hype Cycle for Cyber and IT Risk Management (data classification)[2]
  • Hype Cycle for Security Operations (file analysis) [3]
  • Hype Cycle for Enterprise Information Management (data classification)[4]
  • Hype Cycle for Data Management (file analysis)[5]
  • Hype Cycle for Storage and Data Protection Technologies (file analysis)[6]
  • Hype Cycle for Data Security (data classification and file analysis)[7]

Gartner Hype Cycles provide a graphic representation of the maturity and adoption of technologies and applications, and how they are potentially relevant to solving real business problems and exploiting new opportunities.[8]

“In our opinion, inclusion in seven Gartner Hype Cycles across two different technology categories underscores the depth and breadth of our data privacy and protection solutions,” stated Kevin Coppins, Spirion President and CEO. “We are proud of the unrivaled accuracy of the data classification and file analysis capabilities underlying our platform’s protection of personal, sensitive, and regulated data across the key stages of enterprise readiness—from data security and data privacy to broad data governance initiatives.”

Data classification technologies apply a level of confidentiality and defined handling instructions to each piece of information. According to Gartner Hype Cycle for Cyber and IT Risk Management 2021[2], “Data classification enables an effective and efficient prioritization for data governance programs that span value, security, access, usage, privacy, storage, ethics, quality, and retention. It is vital to security, privacy, and data governance programs. It also allows organizations to have the required knowledge about the sensitivity of the data they process.”

File analysis technologies discover, index, and track growing volumes of structured and unstructured data, no matter where it resides. Gartner Hype Cycle for Privacy 2021[1] defines file analysis stating: “FA solutions improve organizations’ ability to manage ever-expanding repositories of unstructured/structured data. They increase visibility to disparate, unorganized sources of information, allowing IT teams to establish qualified operational efficiencies; compliance teams to improve insight to sensitive information, including personal information (PI); and security team exposure to areas of data access risk..”
