A look at the Heart of Spirion with our CMO, Jen Holtvluwer

The original, closet-sized NYC office looks slightly different. Today, headquarters overlooks the beautiful Tampa Bay. The innovative, entrepreneurial spirit that started with two cyber experts continues in hundreds of passionate privacy professionals. From a single idea came the protection of 1.7M PETABYTES of sensitive data. What started with helping the higher education community has now exploded into finance, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, energy/utilities, and many other markets.

The heart of Spirion looks the same as it did in 2006. Our mission to protect what matters most―the sensitive personal data of our colleagues, customers, and communities has never been more embraced by employees, customers, partners, and influencers.

Look at what leading research and analyst firm IDC says about Spirion’s 15th anniversary: “The data protection and privacy industry move at a breakneck pace. Organizations that succeed in this cutting-edge technology area need to innovate their culture along with their product. Spirion understands that the people behind the product matter just as much as the product itself and is positioned to continue to grow in this strong market,” Ryan O’Leary, Research Manager for Privacy and Legal Technology at IDC. I echo what Ryan says about how the people behind the product matter just as much as the technology. We have an army of devoted employees going to the data privacy battle every day. The company would not have evolved into a leader in sensitive data protection had it not been for our dedicated, innovative talent.

Did you know that 70% of upstart tech companies fail — usually around 20 months after first raising financing (with approximately $1.3M in total funding closed)? In the spirit of calling out failure, I’d like to quote Mr. Thomas Edison, “I have learned fifty thousand ways it cannot be done, and therefore I am fifty thousand times nearer the final successful experiment.” After years of experience and gaining a thorough understanding of business needs, Spirion and its founders, David Goldman and Todd Feinman, removed failure from their vocabulary when they came up with the “Identity Finder” concept nearly 20 years ago. They brought that idea to life in 2006 and never looked back. They now sit on the company’s Board of Directors.

Please join me as I wish the company a very happy anniversary for hitting the 15-year milestone.
